Phase: Completed
Location: Washington County
Final cost: $20 million
This project consisted of the preservation of the Belle Vernon Bridge, which carries I-70 over the Monongahela River, Route 88 and Route 906, two railroads, and local streets, between Washington and Westmoreland counties. The bridge work included full painting, steel truss member repair, substructure repair and an epoxy deck overlay. In addition, there was concrete pavement patching and rock slope repair for approximately one-half mile on both approaches to the bridge. Construction began in April 2015 and was completed in Fall 2019.
